Santa visits St Mary’s
Just before Christmas 2016 the presents for the children who were in the St Mary’s Hospital Paediatric Research and Intensive Care Unit were stolen.
Around 150 gifts, worth about £3,000, that were kept in a store room at Pared Street were believed to have been stolen between October and November 2016. The paediatric intensive care unit treats more than 400 children a year suffering from life-threatening conditions, with many facing long stays while they recover.
Without hesitation our site team and supply chain came together and raised the funds to replace the presents. They treated the children to a visit from Father Christmas, who was on hand to distribute more than 250 of the donated gifts at a winter wonderland event created at the Lancaster Hotel.
